Making Your Own Christmas Gift Hampers

It shouldn't come as a surprise that not everyone loves Christmas, and with the current hardships faced by many families people are looking for a way to ease their stress and their money problems. No longer can families go out and spend hundreds of pounds on every present under the sun, and similarly the younger generation are not having an easy time either.

Rather than giving flowers or chocolates this year, try and think of something a bit different... something which still purveys the loving message but also shows that you have been considerate to their tastes and have given them something that will be used. Our favourite affordable holiday present is a gift hamper.

Gift hampers are an ideal present as you can tailor them to your recipient, and show that you have given great consideration to the gift.
For example if you come from Somerset, then you can create a special themed Somerset gift hamper. This could contain local produce, preserves and drinks that are known to your local area. Similarly if you lived in an area known for its brandy, you may be inclined to create a brandy themed gift hamper. The ideas are endless!

Well, you can't possibly know the likes and preferences of everybody you're buying a gift for, but there is one thing that's obvious: they enjoy quality Christmas foods! Pies, biscuits, breads and alcohol-all of these are excellent Christmas food that are enjoyed by millions of people around the UK.

Here are a few of our favourite Christmas treats:

Fruit cake: Fruit cake is a wonderful traditional Christmas cake popular around the world, which is made with candied fruit, dried fruit, nuts, spices, and is sometimes soaked in spirits such as malts. Fruitcakes are often served without glazes or icing in the United States and Canada, but they are also sold with frosting, glazes, and other additions such as almond and berry toppings. Traditional British fruitcakes are covered in marzipan and royal icing, and decorated with such toppings as berries, holly leaves, and even little decorations such as small birds, holly, and snow men!

Mince Pie: Mince pies are an essential part of a traditional Christmas meal. The earliest mince pies were eaten with meat, but don't be fooled by the name - today they are made with a sweet mincement, making them a warm, inviting and delicious sweet pie for any Christmas meal. Typical mincement is made with raisins, currants, sugar, nutmeg, a variety of dried fruits, cooking apples, and a nice brandy. Mince pies can be topped with icings, dried fruits, and sweet sugar glazes.

Local Cider: As we are located near Somerset, renowned for the cider orchards and local scrumpy, its no wonder that this is part of our favoured list. Many times when I have been travelling and met others who have been to Somerset, its always the cider that seems to be a talking point. Having this included in your gift hamper gives the present some roots and gives a real air of authenticity for the recipient. And who doesn't love getting drunk?

Now, what if you could get someone a present that would include ALL of these treats and more in an attractive, wrapped and well-presented gift basket? The best way to give someone an abundance of great tasting, comforting Christmas food is to create them a Christmas hamper.

A Christmas hamper is a themed gift basket filled with Christmas and holiday foods and it makes a perfect gift for someone who enjoys all the delights of the festive season. You can make your own gift basket any size you wish, usually depending on the contents, and can include a wide assortment of Christmas foods and Christmas drinks.

If you're doing the Christmas shopping this season and would like to buy a high quality Christmas hamper for your loved ones then check out the Christmas gift hampers on offer at the Olive Tree in Somerset.

Last Minute Christmas Gift Buys

The clock is ticking. Postponing that holiday shopping spree may have people forced into thinking of some last-minute Christmas gift ideas. If those presents under the tree are for a woman, a great thing to unwrap is a gift for beautiful skin.

Most women love skin care devices when it comes to opening up Christmas presents. There's an incredible array of these items to promote a luminous glow. And more than likely, the below gift ideas are something she has already thought about buying but hasn't gotten around to making the purchase yet.

Most of these gift ideas are only a click away at e-commerce stores. Also, keep an eye out for e-commerce stores that ship for free.

Micro Current Devices:

For under $300, one can buy an at-home device which offers amazing micro current facial toning. Look for one which is FDA approved. This product renews muscles under the skin to lessen fine lines and wrinkles. In less than 5 minutes per day, it gently takes years off and reveals smoother and younger looking skin

Users are seeing improvements such as

Tighter skinDefined cheekbones and jaw lineBrow area toned and lifted

Sonic Skin Cleansing System:

A sonic skin cleansing system gives a beautiful afterglow that every woman yearns for. It's like having a body spa treatment at home. Sonic cleansing units range from $70 to $175. Most come with different attachment heads for the face and body. A great sonic cleansing system sloughs off dead skin cells and prepares the skin for product penetration, too. It's a wonderful anti-aging tool and promotes youthful skin.

If she loves color, then she'll love the products that come in pink, turquoise and lavender.

Sonic skin cleansing systems do the following:

Microdermabrasion Kits:

It's true that you can find at-home this treatment for under $50 at some places, but they just don't deliver what they promise. A good unit will cost around $180. It's like the saying goes, "You get what you pay for." Find a system which uses aluminum oxide crystals - the same kind which are used by professional healthcare offices.

Fine lines and wrinklesSkin texturePore sizePigmentation correctionAcne

LED Light Therapy

LED light therapy is getting a lot of nods these days when it comes to treating signs of premature aging and acne. Again, find a FDA approved and quality device which will cost around $300. Locate a combination of red, amber, and infrared LED lights which promote collagen. These different lights working together have been clinically proven to restore skin to a younger looking state.

These exquisite gift ideas will keep her looking and feeling beautiful - after all, isn't that what she deserves?

Top 5 Tips For Buying Chocolates Online For Christmas

Christmas time, mistletoe, wine and indulging in chocolate time! Christmas chocolate is a perfect gift to send during the festive season. If your friends and family are receiving lots of visitors they'll really appreciate having something to share, and it's always nice to have something tasty to hand other than mince pies! It's also always worth having a few spare presents ready for those inevitable unexpected guests!

Creamy white, smooth milk, or indulgent dark chocolate...whatever their taste, there is a box to suit even the most awkward relative or friend! You can't go wrong with a delicious chocolate selection box with classic favourites including velvety caramels, creamy ganache, nutty pralines and fruity centres!

If you're not a big fan of Christmas high street queues, you're not going to see loved ones before Christmas or you just like to surprise relatives with a chocolate gift delivered straight to their door, online shopping is definitely your best bet. There are many companies offering chocolate treats delivered, but it can sometimes be a bit daunting knowing which one to choose when you have over 2 million Google results for the term 'chocolate gifts delivery'.

Here is my simple guide to choosing the best online retailer for your Christmas chocolate treats...

1) Look for secure websites (indicated by the padlock in the bottom right hand corner) and ensure the retailer has a clear postal address on its homepage, along with a freephone customer service number so you can speak to someone if you have a problem with your order. Many companies also offer a no quibble quality guarantee to give you extra piece of mind.

2) Ask friends and family to recommend websites that are easy to use, offer great value chocolate gifts and excellent customer service.

3) Beware of many online retailers sneakily adding a large delivery charge at the end of the checkout process. Look for those which include free delivery so you know exactly what you are paying for and won't get any nasty surprises during payment.

4) Keep an eye out for little extras that can be added on to your order. Some online chocolate retailers offer a free personalised message service and greetings cards to add a special finishing touch to your gift.

5) Save money by searching for discounts on voucher code websites and check if the retailer has loyalty scheme where you can collect reward points on your purchases. If you are buying lots of Christmas chocolate gifts you can save up your points to treat yourself to some chocolate goodies at the same time!

We mustn't forget the small matter of advent calendars, arguably the most important Christmas chocolate in some households. Often it is grandparents who like to buy advent calendars for their grand children every year and in situations where grandparents have emigrated overseas, or their family has moved to the other side of the country, this tradition becomes difficult to uphold. So this is one of those occasions when using an online shop to have an advent calendar delivered by post is a real life saver (just remember the top 5 tips above).

Happy Shopping!

Inexpensive Christmas Gift Baskets

There are so many different Christmas gift baskets you can make without spending a lot of money. Many of them can be made with just items or ingredients you have in your house or that you have picked up while out shopping. Below are just a few of the ideas:

· Soup lover's gift basket - In this basket you can include a mason jar filled with beans, pasta, and spices that can be included in a favorite soup. Place the directions in the basket or attach them with a bow to the jar and the recipient can add beef or some vegetables and they have a great warm soup for the holiday. Add a package of salty crackers and a chunk of cheese and you have a great gift basket.

· Hot chocolate or coffee lover's gift basket - Buy a bulk package of hot chocolate or a favorite brand of coffee, put in a few packets of the chocolate or coffee, a couple of inexpensive Christmas mugs, a few mints and candy canes and you have a great holiday gift basket full of things that every hot chocolate or coffee lover can enjoy.

· Puzzle gift lover's basket - Do you know someone who enjoys working puzzles or doing crossword puzzles? You can find many of these at the dollar store (normally 2 for $1) and fill the basket with a few. Add some small chocolate truffles and you have the perfect gift for your puzzle lover.

· Movie lover's basket - Get a couple of packs of microwave popcorn, some DVD's from the clearance or a gift card to a Red Box if you can afford it and put them in a basket. Add a couple of bottles of soda and someone will receive a wonderful movie package.

· Bath time lover's basket - Include a lot of scented soaps, bubble bath or body wash, a puffy or soft wash clothes, a scented candle and a CD with some soothing music. This will get the recipient in the mood for a lot of bubble baths and relaxation to come.

· Reader lover's basket - If you have someone who likes to read, nothing says love like a book gift basket. You can get used books at many stores (most of them look like new), throw in a mug with some hot chocolate, some chocolate truffles and the basket is complete.

No matter what type of "lover" you have in your home or you have to buy for, you can come up with some great ideas with just a little creativity. Put some decorative or colored wrap around the basket, or even some wrapping paper, close it at the top with a bow and give the Christmas gift of love to someone you know.

The ABCs of Christmas Gifts Giving

Let's face it, Christmas gifts can be a challenge to find for guys. For some reason, there's just more stuff out there for women. However, if you think outside of the box a little, mens presents don't have to be quite so painful. Let's take a look at some helpful tips for creating a stunner of a present for your man, using the ABCs of gift giving.

1. An Activity:

For starters, who says that mens presents have to be wrapped up in a box underneath the Christmas tree? Some of the most memorable and enjoyable presents aren't of the gift-wrapped variety. Go for an activity that you know your man will love. What hobby has he always wanted to try? Are there classes he would love to sign up for that you could buy for him? How about sports activities, whether going to watch a game, or play a game himself? Paintball, ten-pin bowling, kayaking - the sky's the limit when it comes to activities.

2. Bonding Breathers:

Making a meaningful present doesn't have to be hard if you're involved! He'll love the fact that you want to give of your time take time out of your busy schedule just to chill with him. Take him on a date night to your favourite restaurant (or try somewhere new!), book a weekend away for two in a romantic location, or go horseback riding or hiking together if he's the outdoors type.

3. Creative Coupons:

Coupons can include physical coupons to shops he'd love (such as the hardware store, computer store, or movie rental), or can be homemade ones for things you'd like to do for him. Then he can redeem these over the next days, weeks or months. Inexpensive options can be coupons for giving him a back massage, making him his favourite dessert, or giving him a night off doing dishes. Other options could include coupons for coffee dates with you, packing his lunch for a few weeks, or coupons for various outings - picnics, hikes, bike rides, or any other activity he'd enjoy.

4. Delightful Dishes:

This is a generalization, but generally it's true! Men love food, and while they'll often eat whatever you place before them, there are certain foods they love. Often it revolves around the word "dessert", so any food-related gift is sure to please. Think of Christmas gift ideas such as taking him out for dinner or dessert at his favourite restaurant, or cooking/baking his favourite foods - could even do a dessert marathon for a week, each night creating some other decadent delight for your man.

5. Enlightening Entertainment:

Go for a night on the town and find what concerts, dramas, or movies are showing. Or purchase a few movies you know he'll love and plan a movie marathon night for him and a bunch of friends - make sure there's plenty of food and drinks, and they'll have a blast! Or have some family friends around, dig out the wii or the backyard bowls, and enjoy a barbeque together!

Christmas gift ideas are really prevalent, it's just a matter of thinking outside the box and knowing where to look. Put on your thinking cap and come up with the best Christmas memory ever!

Printed T-Shirts: The Perfect Secret Santa Gift

Secret Santa gifts are very nice because they usually are given in places where everyone is familiar with everyone else. So, when names are drawn to give Secret Santa gifts, the office or school or club can easily start to give gifts. People usually have nicknames for their friends and co-workers. Those same nicknames tend to prevail throughout the workday and into social interaction. So, what is the best way to give someone a gift that is funny, highlights their nickname in the office, and allows for a good laugh?

Printed t-shirts are a great way to get thoughts and feelings into a gift format that allows the person receiving the gift to enjoy the gift. This is especially important in places where the office is tight-knit and able to have good fun.

When Secret Santa gifts are given in places where the group may not be very familiar with one another, a printed t-shirt is still a very good idea for a gift. For example, if the person that is drawn works with motorcycles, it would be very nice to get them a t-shirt with a printed motorcycle or some kind of reference to motorcycles. The same information can be found pretty easily through a short conversation with everyone in the office. There does not need to be a massive amount of familiarity with the person who is getting the gift, but that little bit of information will tell the gift giver what is the best move when purchasing printed t-shirts for the person they have drawn for Secret Santa.

Also, knowing a little bit about that person's family can help to make the t-shirt more personal and meaningful. The best thing to do is to get a shirt that someone can wear proudly. If they have just had a baby, it might be a good idea to have the baby's name printed on the shirt or listed as something like "Hailey's Daddy." This allows the proud parent to wear the name of their newborn proudly in the office. This means that the personalisation and the thought that goes into the shirt should be very carefully considered. This allows the receiver to get something that makes them feel good and makes them feel special when they receive the gift at the office Christmas party.

Even though it can be difficult to figure out what to get for someone in a Secret Santa drawing, a printed t-shirt can make it very easy for the gift that is given to be meaningful, nice, and wearable for the receiver. Don't think that there's no way a great gift can be purchased. The best gifts are the ones that are personalised like printed t-shirts.

Tips For Finding Perfect Christmas Gifts - Rescue the Reason of the Season

Christmas should be a time of joy and fun... yet many of us get so stressed out during the season. Part of that stress is due to gift shopping... and trying to find the best suited gift for those on your list -- year after year.

It's enough for some of us to just stay home and get slogged on egg nog. And likely--some of us do!

Avoidance becomes the watchword, and yet, it needn't really be that difficult. Finding the perfect Christmas gift for your 'people' could turn into a fun project with rewards that last all year! This simple act is an important one to do well as it can spark rewards far greater than the gift we give.

Here are some tips to help you become "The" Cool Gift Giver of the Year!

Finding cool Xmas presents requires a gift that leaves others wishing they were your giftee. The key is to find something that excites interest in others and elicits that 'wow' factor.

Say what?!... you gasp! It's hard enough to find something 'normal' let alone a Christmas present with extra pizzazz that will make others drool... ! Your mind wanders to the fruitcake and re-gifting process for comfort...

Whoa Rudolph! No need to go there. With just a little time and a little effort from your heart, you can become the Gift Giver of the Century. It just takes a few moments of engagement.

Just take a breath and take the first 'problem gift' on your list... and think a bit about what that person likes to do. We usually give up without much fight because we think we don't know anything about them. You likely know them better than you think you do.

What do you chat about when you get together? Do their eyes light up when a certain topic is mentioned? Do they have pictures or objects in their home... or if a work colleague... on their desk that give clues?

What have they talked about repeatedly with gusto? Are they politically oriented? Love to travel? How about pets?

Do they have a dog, a cat or a gerbil... or something more exotic?

What do they read? Do they listen to music? Visit art museums for fun? How about hobbies?

Do they bowl or dance? Hike or mountain climb? Do they paint, knit or collect rocks?

Do they love autos or collecting miniature objects?

Are they active or sedentary?

And the list goes on. You can think about what you DO know about the person on your list... and things will start to look brighter.

If they love to cook, there are any number of handy new gadgets every year that could make the whole process for them even more delightful. Even a unique or well-designed cookbook could be just the ticket. Or what about putting together a gift basket of some gourmet treats so they can enjoy them without cooking... and dream about re-creating the recipe themselves? Or include the recipe you've managed to find...

The car and motorcycle buff will always go for special items that help them clean and shine the 'apples' of their eyes. The traveler would surely enjoy a novel carry-on bag, a basket filled with sample travel items such as soap, shampoo, mini toothpaste and brush, hand wipes, money belts or re-usable bottles for instance. Light, easy to pack, healthy travel snacks to take along would also be welcome. Books on the destination of their dreams could also bring them a step closer to fulfilling their desire. Good maps of the region can always be counted on to be appreciated.

Don't forget the gardeners. Think hand tools, gloves or kneepads and organic fertilizers and sprays for gardening. Good garden guides for the area of their passion, be it organic, hydroponics, vegetables, landscaping, roses or other areas, will hold their hand and guide them to success for a lifetime.

Magazine subscriptions on the theme or subject of their interest can be a big hit as well. Not many people think to do that. That arm-chair archeologist or at home do-it-yourselfer would delight in a magazine subscription that they might not have splurged on for themselves. But what a treat to receive the 'luxury' they denied themselves -- from you! You'll be remembered! The hobbyist will appreciate the newest trend gadget or needed supplies to enjoy the pastime of their heart's desire.

And pet lovers... well... you hit the jackpot there! Special toys, foods, supplies or accessories for their pet will win their hearts in no time. Or consider a t-shirt, sweatshirt, furniture throw, mousepad, calendar, stationary, iPhone or eye-glass case - or similar- for the human counterpart with a photo of their favorite domestic heart throb or a pet-oriented theme. You'll have a winner! And a custom, made-by-you touch to boot!

Take some pictures of their special furry friends and make a nice collage in a unique photo frame you can purchase inexpensively at bargain stores. Or go for broke with a custom made frame you can order online as well.

And think about lessons for the activity of their interest or even throw in a gift certificate in a gift basket made custom with some special items you choose. These always have a 'thrill' factor, don't take a lot of time, but appear to. They show you gave some genuine thought to the task... and that could be the greatest gift of all to anyone.

After all, the old phrase... "it's the thought that counts"... takes on true meaning. The concept of 'I'm thinking of you' in Christmas gifting shows love, respect or affection in honor of the gift of Christmas. The gift that such a gesture bestows to relationships colors them for the better, and mutual bonds grow as a result of taking a bit of time to care enough to find a gift that will delight your recipient.

Year after year those bonds strengthen, all due to that little bit of time given to actually come to 'know' a person better. Each year, your observations will be more rich, you'll pay more attention to what makes another happy and it will be more like an adventure of discovery.

The result is a gift to both... and all those connected to both of you... that truly keeps on blessing. And our World needs more of such... and Love in every form. Our small contributions via a small but special thought from the heart - discerned from listening, observing and caring - can help make the world a truly better, happier place.

Improved relationships lighten our burdens, bring smiles and make the world a brighter place to be. And that is a gift that keeps paying forward.

The Nightmare Before Christmas Will Be No More With Personalized Gifts!

The value of a Christmas gift isn't based on its price tag, but the goodness of your heart. As W.C. Jones puts it, "The joy of brightening other lives, bearing each others' burdens, easing other's loads and supplanting empty hearts and lives with generous gifts becomes for us the magic of Christmas."

Ponder for a minute and you'll realize how true that statement is. Presents are undoubtedly the most fundamental part of Christmas.

But, to be quite frank, Christmas shopping is hellish. Luckily, there's a solution that'll take the pain out of present buying. These days, the most unusual Christmas gifts are just a click away. The internet is proving to be one of the biggest places for shopping. You have everything you've ever wanted at your fingertips.

Let's get one thing straight, though. Christmas presents like socks, cedar-scented hangers or anything from the 99 cent store are tacky and tasteless. People would prefer a lump of coal.

Christmas is a season of giving. And essentially, that means giving something good. Who really wants to give a run of the mill gift that lacks uniqueness, one that can easily purchased? Exactly. No one.

This is where personalized Christmas gifts come into the picture. If you're dubbed 'the predictable one' or have a tendency to re-gift stuff, these prezzies will re-establish you as an A-1 gift-giver. But what is a personalized Christmas gift anyway? Well, these très magnifique, chic and unique Christmas gifts, ladies and gents, can be customized with your recipient's name plus a short message to give it that 'something more'...

Whether you're shopping for your doting Dad, loving Mom, football mad friend or beauty queen colleague, you're sure to get your hands on that prize-winning idea from an enormous range of unbeatable gift suggestions.

There are oodles of personalized Christmas gift ideas up for grabs, from fake newspaper and magazine covers to Christmas ornaments and Christmassy-themed mugs. Surely a gift with their name on it will warm the cockles of their hearts this festive season?

Big or small, not only do gifts make the receiver feel happy, but they also rekindle special bonds. However, unlike other gifts, personalized Christmas gifts have what they call the "ooh la la" factor and will crown you as the No. 1 gift-giver this year.

Think about it. You're taking the time to create a gift which oozes thought and care. Who wouldn't be grateful for something you've taken the time to create? Personalized gifts for Christmas will leave your loved one amused and enthused, and make Christmas an occasion to cherish evermore.

Add their name and a special message to their gift, and you'll make their holidays sparkle!

Find fantastic personalized Christmas gifts at http://www.simplypersonalized.com/. Sitting neatly in one place, our fabulous range of unusual Christmas gifts are perfect for everyone and anyone on your list. How about a personalized Christmas mug? Or perhaps a personalized tree skirt? There are mountains of unique Christmas gifts just waiting to be discovered!

Tech Gifts for Seniors

The gift of technology, especially if it will add minutes to one's day or make a task easier to accomplish, is great for a loved one of any age! Here are a few of my favorite tech items that could make great gifts for a senior in your life this Christmas season.

Video Phone

A videophone is a telephone with a built-in screen and camera that allows both parties on the call to see each other, all you need is a high-speed Internet connection and you're set. There are several videophones available and if you're familiar with Skype on the computer, you'll find the ASUS Videophone Touch straightforward as it works with Skype. The ASUS Videophone is an all in one unit with a 7-inch screen, touch-screen controls and built-in rechargeable battery. With the videophone you can chat anywhere that your Wi-Fi will extend in and around the house. Complete information about the ASUS Videophone is on the Amazon.com website.

Captioned Phone

The CapTel800i is one of the most advanced captioned telephones available. It's ease-of-use is comparable to the standard telephone with the added benefit of having the words of your caller displayed for you on-screen. The CapTel800i works with a high-speed Internet connection and a single phone line.

Some of the features of the CapTel800i are:

• A phonebook feature for frequently called numbers

• One touch 'press' to turn off the captions on the display

• Caller ID compatible if activated by your local telephone company

• Adjustable font style and size with the easy settings options

• Hearing aid compatible

• Up to 480 lines of conversation may be saved; as more than 480 lines are saved the earliest ones are erased and there's an option to delete conversations that have been saved at any time

• Complete information and ordering instructions on the hamiltoncaptel.com website

eBook Readers

A popular gift for several years running is the eBook reader and there are several excellent brands available.

Kindle from Amazon

The Kindle from Amazon.com has a couple versions of their book reader plus an extensive online eBook library from which to order. If you are thinking of getting the Kindle, consider including a gift certificate for eBook purchases. What a relaxing way to spend time after the holiday rush is over, browsing through an online library in the comfort of your own living room or office for books to enjoy!

The Kobo eBook Reader

It's like reading a regular book only better. The Kobo Touch is lightweight, travel friendly and has built-in Wi-Fi so you can browse the Internet. The screen on Kobo Touch is a 6" wide glare free Ink Screen and the Kobo Vox is slightly larger at 7" to accommodate the onscreen touch keypad. Browsing the online bookstore is straightforward and if you find a book on another computer download the Kobo eReading app and pick up reading where you left off. The eReading app works on Mac and PC plus Apple, Android and Blackberry smartphones and tablets. The Kobo eBook reader is designed by booklovers and easy on the eyes in fact you may not need to wear your reading glasses with the adjustable font sizes.

Read the Comparisons Online

I've mentioned two eBook readers but there are so many to choose from and if you're considering purchasing one for yourself or a loved one, do a comparison online (the Top Ten Reviews website is good for comparisons) before making a decision.

Stay with me as I search for new and innovative devices, inventions and gadgets - some of them will help with day-to-day living and some are just cool and handy but either way, we'll be staying in the know about what's available and what's new in the world of technology for daily life.

Perfect Gadget Ideas for Christmas

Well, we're coming up to that time of year again, the busy Christmas season. Still trying to think of a tech related gift to buy for someone? Or perhaps looking for something for yourself? Regardless, this list of five Christmas tech ideas should come in handy.

Digital Radios

We're moving into a world where everything seems to be going digital, and radios are not spared this treatment. Digital radios are the subject of much discussion at the moment, particularly (and not surprisingly) on the radio. If you know someone who is a rabid radio listened, then a digital radio might just be the right idea for this Christmas. Available in the same range of sizes you find traditional radios, from bench-top to portable, there's a digital radio to suit anyone's needs. While digital radios are not as cheap as standard analogue radios, there are always bargains to be had if you shop around this season.

Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

The Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime is looking to be the hottest tablet of 2011 - and possibly much of 2012 as well. Being the first tablet to sport the Tegra 3 quad-core chip, it's every geek's dream tablet at the moment. That said, the Prime will apparently be available from the cool price of $499, and while this isn't a cheap gift, it certainly is good value for money.

Amazon Kindle

Amazon's Kindle range is always growing, and this means that it's likely there's an option to suit everyone. If you're looking for a gift for someone who's a heavy reader, or even just someone who reads the occasional book, an Amazon Kindle might be the perfect gift idea for this Christmas. With Amazon recently releasing the cut-down entry model Kindle for just over $100, it certainly is a very affordable - and entertaining - gift for any reader.

Samsung Galaxy Ace

The Samsung Galaxy Ace is no top-end smartphone, but you wouldn't be blamed for thinking it was. Priced around the $200 mark, it offers affordability combined with a feature set normally reserved for top of the line smartphones. With an 800MHz processor, 5MP camera and a 3.5" glass touch screen running at 320x480, this is no cheapy smartphone knock off. I recommend this smartphone as a gift idea because I had a chance to play around with one of them recently. It compared quite well to my HTC HD2 (running Android), and I decided to grab one as a gift for a family member - at this low a price you can't go wrong. If you know someone hoping for a smartphone this Christmas, consider the Samsung Galaxy Ace.

Bass Burger

You see these all over the internet, and I'm sure in shops everywhere as well. I'm simply going to refer to it by the name I first heard it called - a bass burger. These tiny portable speakers feature an internal rechargeable battery, and an expanding design which augments their sound quality. In fact, these small speakers do offer very good sound for their tiny size. While I can't make any qualitative comparison, having owned one I would rate it positively compared to other portable speakers in this price range, especially those (such as cheap Logitech portables) which just feature flat speakers in a plastic body. These speakers make an excellent gift for anyone who uses their MP3 player, smartphone, or other portable device for music or games - if they don't mind everyone else hearing them, that is.

Closing

Well, that's it for this list, folks. Hopefully this article gave you an idea or two.
